Some people are “hungry” Viktor Gyokeres claims he is ready to fulfill manager Mikel Arteta’s appeal to continue his scoring pace in the Premier League.

Gyokeres snapped a seven-match goal drought with a quickfire brace in Arsenal’s 4-0 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid.

Gyokeres’ count for his new club now stands at five after joining from Sporting Lisbon for £58 million, where he scored 97 goals in 102 matches.

After the emphatic victory, Arteta challenged Gyokeres to keep scoring, with the north Londoners returning to domestic action against Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Sunday.

Gyokeres, 27, added: “I’m more hungry now. You always want to contribute with your work rate and other aspects, but scoring goals is something special. So that is something I have always wanted to accomplish.

“Our group and vibe are unique and special.

“When you win games and deliver spectacular performances, the team gains confidence. The belief must always exist, but this certainly helps to strengthen it. “We just want to keep going like this.”

Arsenal has won three games in Europe and kept three clean sheets.

In their first 12 games, Arteta’s side has conceded only three goals – away at Liverpool and Newcastle, and at home to Manchester City, with only one coming from open play.

Goalkeeper David Raya, who has five consecutive shutouts, stated, “I give clean sheets same credit as goals.

“If we keep clean sheets, games will be easier to win.” It’s critical for the entire team to avoid giving up too many opportunities and to be extremely solid.

“The depth of the squad is remarkable. We have a lot of players who can play multiple positions.
