Bruno Fernandes has warned Manchester United’s players that failing to build on their 2-1 triumph over Liverpool risks casting ‘another dark cloud’ over Old Trafford.
The 31-year-old Portuguese great was a highlight in the Red Devils’ first win at Anfield since 2016. Fernandes assisted Harry Maguire’s winning goal with a volleyed cross. He was vital from the start, creating the move that resulted in Bryan Mbeumo’s opening goal only 63 seconds into the game.
While Fernandes enjoyed the post-match festivities on Merseyside, his focus will soon shift to next Saturday’s game against Brighton, as United look for their third consecutive Premier League victory. “Today is for celebrating and enjoying the moment,” the United captain told DAZN Portugal, as reported by O Jogo.

“I’ll start thinking about it [the next game] tomorrow, because the attention needs to shift swiftly from today to next week.
“Winning tonight is great, but if we don’t win next week, it’ll be a gloomy cloud again. It’s difficult to keep a gorgeous sky in Manchester.
Since Ruben Amorim took over as manager 11 months ago, United has yet to win two consecutive league games. Amorim praised the triumph as his ‘greatest success’ as manager, a feeling shared by Fernandes, according to the Mirror.
“It was a very important game,” the 31-year-old added. “We clearly needed this victory to push closer to the top rankings. It was critical to win against a team that needed to win, and we used our frustration to force them to make some mistakes.
“We were very effective in the first half and then dropped back a bit in the second half, but we were resilient, we knew how to work, and we got the second goal in the end.”
