Chelsea Monitoring Two Barcelona Defenders

Chelsea are reportedly keeping close tabs on Barcelona defensive duo, Eric Garcia and Ronald Araujo.

The Catalan giants midfielder, Fermin Lopez was the target of Chelsea’s summer transfer attempt, although the deal ultimately fell through.

Marc Casado was also wanted by the Blues, but the La Masia star chose to stay at the Camp Nou.

According to TBR Football as reported by Barca Universal, Chelsea are closely monitoring Eric Garcia as he continues to negotiate a contract renewal with Barcelona.

The Blues appear to be interested in Garcia because his current contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the current campaign.

After all, starting in January 2026, he will have the freedom to deal with other teams. To get him before his contract expires, Chelsea might even try to reach a pre-contract agreement.

The versatile defender, who has emerged as a vital member of the team under Hansi Flick, is currently negotiating a new contract and should soon reach a final agreement.

The west Londoners are also keeping an eye on Ronald Araujo at the same time. Although they think the Uruguayan won’t leave the Blaugrana.

Araujo is said to be totally committed to Barcelona, having signed a long-term contract with them earlier this year in January. The Blaugrana also see him as a key component of their plans.
