Mario Balotelli Admits Career Is At A ‘Dead End’ But Refuses To Retire

Former Liverpool and Italy striker Mario Balotelli has admitted he is at a “dead end” in his career — but isn’t ready to quit.

The 35-year-old has been without a club since leaving Genoa last summer, marking the 12th stop in his turbulent career.

Balotelli spent the 2023/24 season with the Serie A side but made only six substitute appearances before being released, reports Echo.

The ex-Manchester City forward enjoyed brief spells at Adana Demirspor and FC Sion in recent years but struggled for consistency.

During his time at Liverpool, Balotelli scored just four goals in 28 games, failing to fill Luis Suárez’s void in the 2014/15 season.

‘Football Is Still My Life’

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Balotelli admitted he feels stuck but remains determined to play again.

“To be honest, I’m at a dead end,” he said. “Physically, I feel good. I’m training for myself every day.”

“This summer, I had offers from abroad, but I hoped to stay in Italy for another year or two. That chance never came.”

“I’m fit and just waiting for the right opportunity. Football is still my life, but I’ll only return when I can really contribute.”

Despite being clubless, the Italian striker insists retirement is not an option — yet.
