Christian Norgaard Reveals Plan For Next Move After Contract Expires

After his contract with Arsenal expires, Christian Norgaard has stated that he intends to return to his native Denmark.

The midfielder, who cost £10 million to acquire from Brentford to Arsenal over the summer, has had a slow start to life in N5 following a preseason injury. His only competitive start for the club thus far came in a 2-0 Carabao Cup triumph over Port Vale.

The 31-year-old stated he will not play for another club outside of Denmark after leaving the Gunners, following his recall to the Danish national team for World Cup qualifying matches against Belarus and Greece.

Speaking to Danish website Bold, Norgaard stated, “I can guarantee that Arsenal will be my final team overseas.

“I still want to return to Brondby after my contract with Arsenal expires. My contract is for two years, with an option for an additional year.”

Norgaard spent six seasons at Copenhagen’s Brondby, making 147 games and winning the Danish Cup in 2018.

He did, however, confirm that he is willing to complete the full three-year term of his deal.

“If things go as planned, I would be pleased to continue at Arsenal for another year.

“If it turns out that it wasn’t the right match, we’ll go home to Denmark after two years.”

Norgaard has had to shift from being Brentford’s captain to a depth option at Arsenal.

Despite this, he expressed his pride at returning to the Danish national team.

“I’m happy that (Denmark manager) Brian (Riemer) still sees me in a big role in the national team, even though my club situation has changed after moving from Brentford to Arsenal.”
