Forgotten Man United Star Set For Return After Exile

Tyrell Malacia is reportedly set to rejoin Manchester United’s first-team training.

The 26-year-old, who was considered surplus to requirements, was included in the summer’s “bomb squad” along with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony.

Malacia stayed after a loan to Spanish team Elche fell through, while the others went.

Although the PA news agency as noted by The Independent understands that his senior team reintegration is now complete, as he has been training with the under-21s.

According to sources, this was a prearranged move rather than a response to player injuries or United’s performance. In 2022, Erik ten Hag made Malacia his first signing after joining United as the head coach.

He was a mainstay for the Red Devils in 2022–2023 but missed the entire 2023–2024 season due to a serious knee injury he sustained near the close of that season.

He made eight appearances under Ruben Amorim before joining PSV Eindhoven on loan in the second half of last campaign.

The squad recall came as Brentford defeated United 3-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium with goals from Igor Thiago and Mathias Jensen in stoppage time, giving United their third loss in six Premier League games.

With his first United goal, Slovenian attacker Benjamin Sesko cut the Bees’ early lead, but Bruno Fernandes’ second penalty miss of the season added to the Red Devils’ suffering.

Amorim had to deal with up with shouts of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” from ecstatic Brentford supporters after Jensen settled matter.
