Ratcliffe Contacts Southgate As VAR Decision Sparks Outrage

Manchester United’s struggles under Ruben Amorim deepened with a 3-1 defeat to Brentford, leaving his future in serious doubt.

Despite Benjamin Sesko scoring his first United goal, Amorim’s men collapsed again, conceding twice in the opening 20 minutes at the Gtech Community Stadium.

A late Brentford strike sealed another damaging setback for the Red Devils.

The result leaves United hovering above the relegation zone, increasing pressure on Amorim.

Reports suggest Sir Jim Ratcliffe is already considering replacements, with Gareth Southgate emerging as a prime candidate.

Ratcliffe’s Manager Search and VAR Controversy

According to talkSPORT, Ratcliffe has spoken directly to Southgate, who is currently a free agent after leaving England last summer.

Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola are also on the shortlist, but Southgate may hold the advantage given his availability and Ratcliffe’s admiration.

United are reluctant to sack Amorim before November 1, when compensation costs would be reduced. Until then, speculation around the dugout will remain intense.

Meanwhile, controversy erupted over Brentford’s Nathan Collins, who escaped a red card for hauling down Bryan Mbeumo, reports Mirror.

Referee Craig Pawson awarded only a yellow, with VAR backing his call.

The Premier League explained that Mbeumo was not in full control of the ball, but former referee Mark Halsey blasted the verdict.

“It was a clear denial of a goalscoring opportunity,” he said. “A red card should have been shown.”

United fans, already frustrated with results, have more reason to feel aggrieved as pressure mounts on the manager and club hierarchy.
