Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling reportedly turned down an approach from Bayern Munich late in the summer transfer window, preferring to stay.
The 30-year-old has been frozen out under Enzo Maresca, training away from Chelsea’s first-team squad since returning from his Arsenal loan, reports Metro.
Sterling even revealed he was training alone at 8:21pm, prompting the Professional Footballers’ Association to contact Chelsea about his treatment.
According to The Athletic, Bayern Munich enquired about Sterling while negotiating Nicolas Jackson’s loan, offering the winger a late career escape route.
Family Reasons Behind Sterling’s Decision
However, Sterling rejected Bayern’s interest due to family concerns, unwilling to relocate permanently to Germany or live far from loved ones.
Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany admitted his admiration for Sterling, recalling their successful four-year spell together at Manchester City winning six trophies.

Kompany described Sterling as a former teammate with whom he shared an unbreakable bond, noting his explosive partnership with Leroy Sane in England.
The Belgian coach hopes Sterling can revive his career at Chelsea, insisting the winger still has quality to succeed at the highest level.
Sterling’s Premier League future remains uncertain, but Bayern’s late move confirms top European clubs still value his talent despite Chelsea’s current stance.
