Bayern ‘Regret’ Decision To Sell Gravenberch To Liverpool

Following Liverpool’s win over Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, it became evident how important Ryan Gravenberch is to the team.

With five games played, the Reds increased their lead at the top of the table to five points after a 2-1 victory against the Toffees in the Merseyside derby.

The midfielder, who remains a vital member of Arne Slot’s squad, has received a lot of praise for his performance in both the local and national media.

Gravenberch played a significant role in the Reds’ Premier League-winning team last season.

Two years have passed since Gravenberch moved from Bayern Munich to Liverpool for an estimated £40 million this summer.

Bayern Regretting Decision To Let Go Of Gravenberch

According to The Mirror, Gravenberch’s success has made his old team feel “regret” for letting him go.

Earlier in the year, Christian Falk, a Bundesliga reporter, shared his thoughts on Bayern’s feelings over Gravenberch’s performance since joining Liverpool.

“Of course, there is internal regret over Ryan Gravenberch’s exit from FC Bayern.

The club knew what he was capable of, but he needed playing time (which he’s been given at Liverpool) that he was never going to get at Bayern Munich,” Falk told CF Bayern Insider back in May.

“Thomas Tuchel [former Bayern manager] saw Gravenberch playing further up the pitch, perhaps as a No.10 or an offensive No.8.

“But this season [2024/25] has proven that the Dutchman is more than capable of playing a more defensively-minded midfield role.

“If Tuchel had seen this, Bayern wouldn’t have spent €51m [£43.2m] on João Palhinha. That still hurts a lot.

“Credit to Marco Neppe and Hasan Salihamidzic, who brought him in, but you still need a coach who trusts and counts on the player. Ultimately, if a player can perform like this at Liverpool, then it’s clear – a mistake was made.”
