Paris Saint-Germain players will miss the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony after Ligue 1 officials controversially rescheduled Le Classique against Marseille.
PSG were due to face rivals Marseille on Sunday, but severe weather forced postponement, with heavy rainfall and flooding warnings in the region.
The clash has now been moved to Monday night, directly clashing with the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, frustrating PSG’s squad, reports Give Me Sports.
The Ligue de Football Professionnel confirmed Marseille’s Stade Velodrome had been placed under orange alert for flooding and thunderstorms on Sunday.
This rescheduling means Luis Enrique and his PSG players cannot attend the prestigious awards show, despite several nominees being in contention.
Ceremony Clash With Le Classique
Enrique was expected to receive the Johan Cruyff Trophy for Best Coach, but managing against Marseille now prevents his attendance at the event.
Meanwhile, PSG stars Vitinha, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Nuno Mendes are also nominated for the Ballon d’Or but will miss celebrating any potential success.
