Former Arsenal Midfielder Thomas Partey Pleaded Not Guilty To Five Rape Charges

Thomas Partey  former Arsenal player pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one of sexual assault.

The 32-year-old appeared in Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday morning, barely hours after playing for Villarreal against Tottenham in the Champions League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday. Partey left Arsenal as his contract expired this summer, after five years at Emirates Stadium.

The Ghanaian international allegedly committed the crimes between 2021 and 2022, according to the Metropolitan Police. Partey has been charged with raping one lady twice, raping another three times, and sexually assaulting a third woman once.

Partey pleaded not guilty to all six counts against him at a hearing at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday. Throughout the brief session, he simply spoke to confirm his identity, date of birth, and not guilty plea.

At the end of Wednesday’s session, Judge Christopher Hehir informed Partey that his trial will take place at this court on November 2, 2026. I understand that is fairly far in advance. As you may be aware, the crown courts have a large backlog of work, which means that trials take a long time to come on. Because you have bail, you are effectively sitting behind a line of prisoners awaiting trial.”

The judge granted bail on the same terms as Partey was given at his previous hearing: he cannot contact any of the three ladies and must notify authorities of any permanent changes of address or international travel.

Jenny Wiltshire  the former Atletico Madrid man’s lawyer, has previously stated that her client “denies all of the charges against him.” She went on to say, “He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation.
