Barcelona teen prodigy Pedro Fernandez ‘Dro’ is on the verge of becoming La Masia’s next breakthrough star.

The 17-year-old offensive midfielder played in the first-team preseason and impressed Hansi Flick and his coaching staff, scoring in his unofficial debut against Vissel Kobe.

Dro has been in the first-team dynamics since the beginning of the season, appearing in the matchday squad for three of the four La Liga games while missing the Valencia encounter due to a knock.

Barcelona  working on Dro’s contract renewal

Dro has great hopes within the club, and as a result, Barcelona has already began negotiations to prolong his contract, according to Juli Claramunt of Jijantes FC.

Indeed, Barcelona director Deco met with Dro’s agent, Ivan de la Pena, on Monday to begin talks on a new contract for the La Masia prodigy.

Dro’s current deal with the Catalan giants extends until the summer of 2027.
