Chelsea Striker Turns To Bizarre New Skill During Recovery

Chelsea striker Liam Delap has taken an unusual approach during his injury lay-off, spending time learning magic tricks and mathematics.

The 22-year-old forward is sidelined for up to twelve weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury against Fulham on August 30.

Instead of resorting to movies or video games, Delap has turned to hobbies that showcase his intelligence, impressing family and friends, reports Talk Sports.

His father, Premier League cult hero Rory Delap, revealed the striker has been keeping himself entertained with mental challenges and puzzles.

“He’s gutted with the injury but focused on recovery. To stay occupied, he’s doing magic tricks and maths challenges,” Rory explained.

A viral video even showed the Chelsea striker solving cubed roots of large numbers faster than most could manage with calculators.

According to his father, Liam has always been naturally gifted at mathematics, often surprising family by solving complex problems on holidays.

Delap’s talent for numbers and tricks will be tested further during his rehabilitation, which is expected to last around three months.

Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed the striker faces ten to twelve weeks out, calling it a frustrating start to his Chelsea career.

Signed from Ipswich Town in the summer for £30 million, Delap had already impressed, assisting and scoring at the Club World Cup.

While sidelined, Chelsea supporters will hope his creativity off the pitch is matched by goals when he returns to full fitness.
