Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott believes that Liverpool will not need the goals of new acquisition Alexander Isak to win the Premier League title thanks to the prolific Mohamed Salah. In Sweden’s shocking 2-0 defeat on Monday, the 25-year-old striker made his debut after a record-breaking £125 million transfer from Newcastle United.
Liverpool enjoyed a memorable summer transfer window, spending over £400 million to improve key sections of their team and finally signing Isak after a lengthy battle with his old club Newcastle.
Despite remaining unbeaten in the league thus far, with their most recent win coming against prospective championship challengers Arsenal, Lescott believes Salah, not Isak, will lead Liverpool to another Premier League success.

During an appearance on Sky Bet’s In The Mixer, Lescott was asked if he felt Isak will be Liverpool’s top scorer this season. The former England international said, “No way. Salah will be.
“They’ll rotate Isak. Salah isn’t rotated. It has been demonstrated that they do not require Isak’s goals since Salah will provide them with the necessary goals to win the league.
“Salah is offered every week. Isak hasn’t done that yet, so they’ll have to manage it. They’ll have to be conscious that, no matter how well Isak feels, they may have to shut him down due to an injury or anything.
“[Sadio] Mane was willing to let Salah score more goals, and the team understood that it worked for them. Same as [Roberto] Firmino. They were willing to create opportunities, and Salah received credit for the goals.
