David Coote, a former Premier League referee, has been accused of filming a child in a sexually explicit manner.
The 43-year-old is expected to show up in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court for an initial hearing on the accusation on Thursday, September 11.
On January 2, 2020, the defendant allegedly produced one indecent film of a kid who was categorized as category A. This is the most serious category, because it typically involves adults raping or sexually abusing young children.
Nottinghamshire Police provided Nottinghamshire Live with the following statement: “A suspect is due to appear in court after being charged with making an indecent image of a child.

“David Coote, aged 43, has been charged with the offence after an investigation by Nottinghamshire Police. The charge relates to a video file recovered by officers in February of this year.
“Coote, of Collingham, was charged on 12 August and is currently on conditional police bail. He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow 11 September.”
Coote was charged by the Football Association earlier this year for remarks he made regarding former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. He was dismissed by Professional Game Match Officials Ltd. (PGMOL) last December a fter a social media video that showed him making derogatory comments about Klopp in July 2020 went viral the previous month.
An ‘aggravated breach’ of the FA’s regulations was reportedly committed on Klopp’s nationality, which was mentioned in one of those remarks. In relation to separate claims of gambling misconduct, which Coote had strongly disputed, the FA confirmed that he would not be subject to any further discipline.
According to the governing body, these claims have been thoroughly investigated.
