Ekitike Gives ‘Problem’ Feelings About Liverpool Signing Isak

Hugo Ekitike is reportedly looking forward to the fierce competition for spots he will provide and says it was “a pleasure” to see Alexander Isak arrive in Liverpool on deadline day.

The Frenchman goes on to say that Arne Slot has “a problem” when it comes to team selection given that he only wants to maintain his excellent start to the season.

For a potential £79 million, Liverpool acquired Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. The 23-year-old, who joined the Reds prior to the start of the season, has been Slot’s starting striker and has scored in the first three of his four competitive games.

This occurred while the team persisted in their pursuit of Isak, which culminated last week on deadline day in a British-record £125 million deal.

Isak will need to improve his fitness before Slot can make a final decision, but the Swedish player would be strongly supported to be the head coach’s go-to striker given his proven record of scoring goals in the Premier League.

Ekitike could be completely dropped from the starting lineup as a result, but he stated he is prepared to compete with his new Liverpool teammate when asked that question by the French media on Sunday afternoon.

What Did Ekitike Say About Competing With Isak At Liverpool?

“It’s fun. When you play for the best teams, you expect to be competing with the best players. Isak is a player I’ve watched too, so seeing him arrive is a pleasure,” Ekitike began as quoted by Liverpool Echo.

“It’s going to be tough competition, but I’m going to focus on performing well so that it’s a problem for the manager.”

Ekitike is expected to feature for France in their World Cup qualifiers against Iceland on Tuesday then he will focus his attention for Liverpool as they seek to maintain their 100 percent start to the season when they visit Burnley.
