Newcastle United Eye Transfer Revenge On Liverpool After Isak Deal

Newcastle United could have the chance to hit back at Liverpool in the transfer market after losing Alexander Isak on deadline day.

The Magpies confirmed the striker’s departure in a short 37-word statement, announcing his record-breaking move to Anfield, reports Chronicle Live.

Isak joined Liverpool for a British-record £125m fee, leaving Newcastle without their top forward just three years after signing from Real Sociedad.

Head coach Eddie Howe had hoped to keep the Sweden international but replacements Nick Wolmetade and Yoane Wissa were quickly secured.

While the loss is significant, Newcastle have managed to strengthen overall and now have a golden opportunity to exact revenge.

Marc Guehi Could Be Key To Newcastle’s January Plans

Liverpool were also chasing Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi on deadline day, but a £35m deal collapsed late on.

Palace were unable to secure a replacement, meaning Guehi remained at Selhurst Park despite entering the final year of his contract.

Newcastle, who have long admired the England defender, could swoop in during January if Guehi becomes available at a reduced price.

With Sven Botman’s injury record and Dan Burn and Fabian Schar both in their thirties, another centre-back is on Howe’s radar.

If Guehi accepts a move to St James’ Park, it would mark the perfect revenge for Newcastle – signing a target Liverpool failed to land after poaching their star striker.
