Ex-Arsenal Star Advises Eze To Reject The Gunners With Deadline Looming

Former Arsenal winger, Theo Walcott has reportedly urged Eberechi Eze to reject a summer move to the Gunners in favour of staying put at Crystal Palace as the transfer deadline is fast approaching.

Despite being one of the busiest Premier League teams this summer, Arsenal may not be done spending just yet.

Even as the Gunners have a long list of new additions—from Arrizabalaga to Zubimendi, to be exact—two weeks of the transfer window remain after they play Manchester United on Sunday to begin their Premier League campaign.

The goal is to get a player who can occasionally play off the left of the front three and create from deep. Eze is the target in particular, but the deal may not be that simple.

Both Nuno Tavares and Marquinhos have left, and a sizeable wage budget has been made available by Thomas Partey’s release. Jakub Kiwior, Leandro Trossard, and Fabio Vieira might still follow the exit door.

Walcott Told Eze To Turn Down Move To Arsenal

It is thought that Eze would rather join Arsenal than Spurs, a rival team in north London.

According to the Daily Star, Walcott, a former Gunners favorite, is still not certain the move would work for the 27-year-old.

“I think the big question or the big thing we’ve got to look at is that it is World Cup year,” Walcott remarked on It’s Called Soccer.

“As a player, if it’s a World Cup year, I’m thinking, ‘I’m going to play consistently for Palace this year, so if I’m Eze, for instance, my thought process: obviously Arsenal is a different kind of pressure.”

Arsenal have until Friday to fulfill Crystal Palace’s release clause for Eze. The England star may be acquired for £68 million right now, but Palace could ask for a higher fee after the deadline.
