Bruno Fernandes accused Manchester United of being “lazy” in their last tour match and suggested they make more acquisitions before the new season begins.
United won the Premier League Summer Series with a 2-2 tie against Everton in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, after defeating West Ham and Bournemouth. Fernandes, who played the complete 90 minutes, scored the opener from the penalty spot.
But Ruben Amorim’s team gave up their lead twice, prompting a candid evaluation from the captain. “It’s improving, but it’s not where we want it to be,” Fernandes explained. “It’s football, and there’s always passion. Whatever happens, occurs. There was nothing hot there; it’s typical and part of the game.
“It’s been a terrific experience [on the US tour], and it’s great to bond with the players. We looked a little sluggish today, and we need to rectify that.

“I don’t mean to criticize anyone, but I believe the club is doing their best in terms of all the financial issues they discuss. I am not aware of it; I am not involved.
“But obviously it was crystal clear we needed more competition for the players that were here.” , according to the Mirror.
“We needed more quality to encourage everyone to step up and work harder to get into the starting lineup. I believe that is what the club and management are attempting to do, and perhaps we can add one or two more players to assist with that.”
United finished 15th last season, their lowest finish in half a century, with Fernandes admitting that a change in attitude and approach was required after such a poor campaign.
