Barcelona Star Not Concerned About Competition, Rules Out Summer Exit

Barcelona defender, Gerard Martin is reportedly not considering leaving the club in the summer transfer window.

Several Premier League clubs expressed interest in Martin earlier in the summer, but it looks like a move is out of the question.

Martin, who made his debut early in the previous season, was mostly viewed as Hansi Flick’s backup in the event that Alejandro Balde was unavailable.

However, Flick had more faith in him than most anticipated, and Martin started in both legs of the Champions League semi-final and the Copa del Rey final after Balde missed a significant stretch of play toward the conclusion of the season.

West Ham and Wolves appeared to be interested in Martin, who had been linked to a move to the Premier League.

Martin Is Not Interested In A Summer Move

Barcelona had demanded €12 million. However, he clarified that he was unaware of any such interest.

“I don’t know if those things are true. If they were, they would have told me. I’m very happy here, at Barca, and I don’t want to leave. If the coach and the management have faith in me, I can’t ask for more,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

Alejandro Grimaldo, a Spain international and former La Masia graduate, was linked to Barcelona earlier in the summer, among other rumors.

But the possibility of competition didn’t bother the Catalan defender.

“No, I’m calm. These things come out a lot in all positions, and competition is good for everyone to keep improving.”
