Talks in Portugal have stalled, despite personal terms already agreed between Gyökeres and the Gunners after several days of intense negotiations.

The English team have offered €65 million upfront, plus an additional €15 million in potential future add-ons to seal the deal.

Sporting Lisbon, however, are holding firm on a demand for €70 million paid upfront, with no flexibility shown in current talks.

Portuguese outlet Record reports that Arsenal negotiators are returning to England, with the next hours critical to the deal’s future.

The standoff could either result in a late breakthrough or see Arsenal walk away from signing one of their top targets, reports Mirror.

Meanwhile, Arsenal confirmed the appointment of former Argentina defender Gabriel Heinze to their coaching staff ahead of pre-season training.

Heinze joins Mikel Arteta’s backroom team as Arsenal prepare for friendlies against Milan, Newcastle, Spurs, Villarreal, and Athletic Club.

Arteta has already added Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi to the squad, while Brentford captain Christian Nørgaard is expected to join soon.

Reports also suggest Arsenal could still pursue Real Madrid star Rodrygo in a sensational late move this summer.
