Liverpool Star ‘Informs Real Madrid’ Of His Clear Transfer Plan

Ibrahima Konate has reportedly informed Real Madrid of his desire to join them when his contract at Liverpool expires next summer.

After his contract expired, Real Madrid signed Trent Alexander-Arnold, Konate’s former teammate, but they also paid Liverpool £10 million to let him go early so he could compete in the Club World Cup.

Players in comparable situations have been signed by the Spanish powerhouses in the past. In recent years, free agents Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, and Kylian Mbappe have all moved to the Bernabeu.

And it looks that Konate might do the same, as the defender has made it clear that he wants to join Real Madrid, according to Sky Sports Switzerland as reported by The Mirror.

Additionally, recent negotiations with Liverpool regarding a contract extension have “not led to any progress,” the report stated.

Konate Rejected Liverpool’s New Contract Offer

The announcement follows rumors that surfaced last month that Konate is dissatisfied with Liverpool’s most recent offer.

The Reds were reportedly offering a basic pay that was “heavily based on meeting certain performance targets,” but the 26-year-old reportedly wanted a higher wage.

Konate did address the speculation after Liverpool’s final Premier League game last season, admitting he is not sure what the future will hold.

“You know, I just want to say one thing: Everything you saw on social media is completely fake,” he said.

“I didn’t even ask for something from the club. They made me an offer, and I replied to them with something, that is it.

“The rest (speculation) that I want to wait until the end… I want this, all of it is completely fake.
