Gyokeres Reconsiders Arsenal Move As Manchester United Re-Enter The Race

Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly reversed his stance on joining Arsenal, with Manchester United now leading the chase.

Initially, the Swedish international was said to have rejected United in favour of Arsenal after speaking with his representatives in June.

Reports from Portugal indicated he had even informed friends of his intention to move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Arsenal had been frontrunners for Gyokeres, submitting an offer around €55m, though Sporting are holding out for at least €70m.

The Gunners’ interest coincided with discussions for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, another top striking target being monitored this summer window.

However, Arsenal’s focus on finalizing cheaper deals for Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga may have shifted priorities temporarily.

That pause has opened the door for Manchester United, who reportedly received positive signals from intermediaries representing Gyokeres, reports Standard.

Despite lacking Champions League football, United remain attractive with manager Ruben Amorim pushing to reunite with his former striker.

The shift reportedly comes as Arsenal weigh their striker options, making Sesko a possible preferred target over Gyokeres.

With the June 30 PSR deadline approaching, United may act fast to secure a potential £59.6m deal before Arsenal respond.
