Man Utd To Launch €40m Bid As Double Serie A Swoop Ignites

Manchester United have made an opening bid for Italian star Marco Carnesecchi, and they have also renewed their interest in one of his Atalanta teammates, according to a report.

Manchester United have signed one player this summer, Matheus Cunha, who arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a five-year contract with an option for an additional year. United signed the Brazilian attacker after activating his £62.5 million release clause.

Ruben Amorim wants the Red Devils to improve their offensive midfield options, and they are lining up Brentford talisman Bryan Mbeumo next.

United have reportedly scheduled a physical for Mbeumo as they prepare to sign him.

Amorim aims to strengthen many additional positions after the No. 10 slots are filled, including centre-forward, central midfield, and goalkeeper.

In terms of the latter, United paid £47 million for Andre Onana in July 2023, but he has made some costly blunders since arriving at Old Trafford.

United are looking for suitable replacements for Onana, and Atalanta’s Carnesecchi is one of their goals.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Carnesecchi is ‘an increasingly definite target’ for Amorim’s side.

United have already expressed interest in the 24-year-old and are “ready to present a €40 million (£34 million / $47 million) offer” to try to sign him.

Atalanta is demanding €45-50 million (up to £43 million or $58.5 million), but the two teams are confident they can reach a deal. Atalanta is likely to accept if United increases their offer with add-ons.
