Despite links to the £75m-rated Brazilian, Gallas insists Gabriel Martinelli deserves Arsenal’s continued trust, citing his proven quality and potential.
“Rodrygo might want to leave Madrid, but that doesn’t mean he’ll want Arsenal,” Gallas told Prime Casino. “Martinelli has already shown his level – Arsenal should stick with him.”
Under new sporting director Andrea Berta, Arsenal are planning an ambitious summer.
Chelsea’s Kepa is set to join, and the club continues to monitor forwards Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.
A new wide player is also on the agenda, especially if Leandro Trossard exits.
Another target, Nico Williams, now looks likely to join Barcelona, reports Mirror.
Gallas expressed disappointment at missing out on the Spanish international, praising his potential partnership with Lamine Yamal.
Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, meanwhile, has struggled for minutes this season and remained on the bench during their 3-1 Club World Cup win over Pachuca.
As Los Blancos aim to finish top of their group, midfielder Fede Valverde called for focus and improvement from the team ahead of their next clash with Red Bull Salzburg.
