Ibrahima Konate has reportedly been left disappointed with Liverpool regarding their contract offer raising fears at the club he could run down his contract and leave as a free agent.
According to reports, the French defender turned down Liverpool’s first offer of an extension before starting the final year of his contract next month.
Liverpool’s concentration on negotiating with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah last season caused a delay in Konaté’s contract talks.
Both players signed new two-year deals in April, and the club prioritized re-signing the Dutchman’s defensive partner.

According to The Irish Examiner, given that the Reds’ offer was mostly dependent on fulfilling particular performance objectives, the 26-year-old is reportedly unhappy with the way it was structured and that his representatives are attempting to increase his base pay.
Given the commotion around Trent Alexander-Arnold’s transfer to Real Madrid, Liverpool would be in a difficult position if they couldn’t reach an agreement on a new contract with Konaté before the summer window closes.
Los Blancos were determined to sign Alexander-Arnold in time to compete at the Club World Cup, this ensured Liverpool ultimately received £10 million for him.
Although that sum is a small portion of his actual worth.
Later in the summer, Liverpool hope to resume talks with Konaté, although they are determined not to overpay.
It was a hectic start to the transfer season for Liverpool, as they have already secured the services of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong for a combined fee of £145.5 million.
