Rayan Cherki has already won over fans on the blue side of his new home city by stating that he intends to ‘destroy’ Manchester United next season.
This summer, Manchester City signed the 21-year-old from Lyon for £30 million.
It may be a bargain signing, since the incredibly skilled forward has already made 185 appearances for Lyon and established himself as one of Europe’s most promising talents.
Cherki is gearing up to make his Manchester City debut at the Club World Cup this week, hopefully against Wydad Casablanca in Philadelphia on Wednesday, and he is already talking a big game.
Last season, the France international faced Manchester United in the Europa League with Lyon, in what turned out to be a spectacular two-legged quarterfinal match.

Cherki scored an injury-time equaliser in the first leg in France, bringing the tie to 2-2 for the return leg at Old Trafford. Reported by metro News.
That game ended 2-2 after 90 minutes, before Cherki and then Alexandre Lacazette appeared to have given Lyon a two-goal lead in extra time.
United had other ideas, as Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, and Harry Maguire scored late to give the Red Devils the most dramatic of 7-6 aggregate victories.
When Cherki put his team ahead at Old Trafford, he gripped his crotch, evidently enraged, and when asked about the game, he immediately had revenge in mind.
‘I’m here to win every game,’ he remarked. ‘I didn’t enjoy it when Manchester United won against Lyon since I’m a Lyonnais. Now I’m waiting for the game to murder them.
He won’t have to wait long to find out when Manchester City and Manchester United will face this season, as the Premier League fixtures are released this week.
