Liverpool Star Suffers Injury Setback As Arne Slot’s Pre-Season Plans Fail player Stefan Bajcetic is in a battle against time to participate in the Reds’ pre-season schedule. Bajcetic made an impressive breakthrough into Liverpool’s first team during the 2022/2023 season.
When he came on as a substitute for Thiago against Ajax, the midfielder became the Reds’ youngest-ever Champions League player. He was subsequently named their player of the month for January 2023 following a streak of excellent performances.
A calf injury cut short his second season, with the Spaniard making only three senior appearances. Bajcetic was loaned out to Red Bull Salzburg, where he was managed by former Jurgen Klopp assistant Pep Lijnders, in order to revitalize his career.

That move, however, turned disastrous, with Lijnders fired and Salzburg terminating Bajcetic’s loan in January. This resulted in another loan move to Las Palmas, where he became an important player.
The 20-year-old made 14 games for the Canary Islanders, but was unable to prevent their relegation to the Segunda División. Along with the disappointment of relegation, Bajcetic missed the last two games.
That was owing to a hamstring ailment, and the Spaniard has now received another blow. Bajcetic has been forced to undergo surgery for the injury, which he sustained during Las Palmas’ defeat to Sevilla on May 15. Reported By Mirror.
He has begun his rehabilitation after surgery, although it is unclear whether he will be able to participate in preseason. The 20-year-old would have hoped to compete for a position in Arne Slot’s senior team.
Reds manager Slot has shown an interest in giving the academy graduate a chance if he was available. Those ambitions have now been crushed, with Bajcetic facing a difficult battle to regain full fitness.
