Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly eyeing a move for Manchester City midfielder, Jack Grealish as a potential replacement for Florian Wirtz, who is on the verge of joining Liverpool.
The Premier League champions have returned with a bid that is more in line with Leverkusen’s asking price of £126 million, although the German team are still in negotiations with the Reds and have rejected multiple bids.
Jeremie Frimpong has already left Leverkusen for Anfield, and if Wirtz leaves, Erik ten Hag, the incoming manager, will have a significant budget to strengthen his squad.
According to the Daily Express, one creative force that has been seen as having the potential to replace Wirtz is Grealish.
The two parties agree that a move elsewhere would be advantageous because the 29-year-old has fallen down the Man City order and the club are eager to get his salary off the books.
Given Grealish’s prior dismal play, Leverkusen might think they can assist him get back to his peak.
The Sun claims that Ten Hag is a fan himself and that people close to the player think he would be keen to moving overseas in order to revitalize his career.
The midfielder, who was purchased for £100 million in 2021, is reportedly attracting interest from Tottenham, Newcastle, and his former team, Aston Villa.
The attacking midfielder has also been linked to Serie A champions, Napoli.
Although City are prepared to suffer a significant loss on their record-breaking acquisition, they still anticipate receiving about £40 million before he leaves.
Although a loan move has also been proposed, Grealish’s weekly salary of £300,000 would put off prospective bidders.
