Jadon Sancho Faces Double Blow As Chelsea Opt Against Permanent Deal

Jadon Sancho has suffered a major setback after Chelsea decided not to make his loan move permanent this summer.

The Blues will reportedly pay Manchester United a £5 million penalty to terminate the obligation-to-buy clause in the deal.

Despite winning the Conference League and scoring in the final, Sancho’s overall contribution didn’t justify his hefty wages.

The winger ended the season with five goals and 10 assists but failed to convince Chelsea he’s worth his current salary.

This marks another low point in Sancho’s career, which has declined sharply since his £72.9 million move from Borussia Dortmund.

His fall is made more evident by Chelsea’s decision to pursue Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in a £50 million move instead.

Bynoe-Gittens, 19, also came through Manchester City’s academy and now looks set to leapfrog Sancho in club and career status.

The pair share the same agency, Elite Project Group, and have long been compared as similar talents on parallel paths, reports Manchester Evening News.

Sancho may offer guidance to his younger peer, but the optics are undeniably embarrassing for the older winger.

With United keen to offload him, Sancho now faces a summer search for a new club to revive his stagnating career.
