Arsenal are reportedly advancing in talks with William Saliba over a new long-term contract at the club.
Even if Saliba is still a priority target for Real Madrid, the Gunners appear to be making every effort to sign him to a new contract.
Despite also acquiring Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth this summer, according to Caught Offside, Los Blancos are still interested in the France international.
In a similar vein, Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that despite the Huijsen deal, Real Madrid still desire Saliba.

The transfer news specialist asserted that the Spanish powerhouses were prepared to make a huge move for Saliba.
However, he also emphasized that the player is content at Arsenal and that a move is unlikely to occur until he makes it apparent that he does not want to sign a new deal.
Players find it difficult to reject Real Madrid, therefore Arsenal will need to do all they can to persuade Saliba to commit to the team for the future.
The north London giants would undoubtedly need to build around Saliba for years to come, so if they can pull it off, it would be a big boost to their project.
One of the world’s top defenders, the 24-year-old would undoubtedly make a huge contribution to a major team like Real Madrid.
However, it’s difficult to see how Arsenal could replace him, so they can’t afford to make a mistake with this deal.
