Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly confirmed the appointment of Erik ten Hag as their head coach following the exit of Xabi Alonso.
Since being fired by Manchester United in October of last year, Ten Hag has been unemployed. According to the Evening Standard, he has secured a prestigious position and will coach Leverkusen in the Champions League the next season.
After Alonso departed the club to take over at Real Madrid, Leverkusen’s hunt for a new manager came to an end when the Dutchman signed a contract through 2027.
However, the anticipated departure of two important players in the summer will make Ten Hag’s job more challenging.

His time at Man United also produced two silverwares; the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.
The 55-year-old has big shoes to fill as the club he is going to takeover as the head coach lost just a single match in the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign.
They are still unbeaten in away matches in two seasons though, even as they didn’t win any major trophy last season.
