The 26-year-old said on Monday that he will leave Anfield and is now anticipated to sign with Real Madrid, who approached him on New Year’s Eve to sign the defender.
Making his Reds debut in October 2016, Alexander-Arnold called leaving his boyhood club “easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life” after more than 20 years of service.
The England international, however, maintained that he had to make the choice in order to “take myself out of my comfort zone” and “experience a new challenge.”
“I know many of you have wondered why or have been frustrated that I haven’t spoken about this yet, but it was always my intention to keep my full focus on the team’s best interests, which was securing No.20.
Liverpool players, both current and former, such as Ibrahima Konate, Mohamed Salah, and Jordan Henderson, have showered Alexander-Arnold with supportive messages since he went public, reportd Liverpool Echo.
Additionally, captain van Dijk became the most recent player to wish Alexander-Arnold luck on Tuesday afternoon when he added a heart and hand-clapping emoji to the defender’s Instagram post.
