Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has reportedly decided to part ways with Xavi Hernandez at the end of the 2023/24 season.
While Barcelona were playing Almeria on Wednesday night, it became apparent that Laporta was extremely incensed about Xavi’s remarks made during his pre-match press conference and was under pressure from other board members to fire him.
The 44-year-old comments that it would be tough to compete with Real Madrid. And that the Catalan club had no intention of bringing Vitor Roque in this January did not go down well.
People believe that Xavi has broken the agreements the pair made when they both met in order to decide to rescind his decision for the upcoming season.
According to RAC1 as reported by Football Espana, Xavi will be fired from his position as manager of Barcelona. Laporta is said to have made the decision to part ways with him before next season.
El Chiringuito also stated that Xavi is ninety-nine percent gone on Wednesday night. And Cadena Cope had stated that he was closer to leaving than staying.
Jordi Baste revealed the information on Thursday morning. Prior to the RAC1 news, Marca and MD had stated that nothing would be done about their dissatisfaction with Xavi’s press conference.
However, they had not reported that Laporta is thinking about sacking the club’s icon.

Xavi had initially decided to leave at the end of the season without demanding payment for the balance of his contract. So it is unclear if the split will be cordial.
Barca would be spending more than €10 million to let go of him and his backroom staff during a difficult financial period.
