Tottenham Are ‘Close’ To Singing Liverpool Target After £26M Bid , Says Romano

Fabrizio Romano believes Tottenham Hotspur are ‘near’ to reaching an agreement with Wolfsburg for £34 million-rated centre-half Micky van de Ven.

At this point, it appears that Micky van de Ven and fellow Bundesliga colossus Edmond Tapsoba are racing to the finish line.

Both players are on Ange Postecoglou’s wishlist, as the new Tottenham Hotspur boss is looking for a left-sided centre-half to replace Clement Lenglet.

While Tapsoba is still in the running, with Sacha Tavolieri stating that his representatives were in London last week for discussions, Van de Ven could beat the Bayer Leverkusen use by a whisker.

Tottenham are currently ‘advancing in talks with Wolfsburg,’ claims Romano on Twitter.

Spurs are closing in on Micky van de Ven?

“(I’m) told the agreement between clubs is now nearing completion,” Romano says. “Negotiations are underway, and discussions on Monday were extremely positive.”

“(Tottenham) is awaiting key information.” More to come.”

Tottenham have made an opening bid of £26 million for one of the Bundesliga’s fastest players and a man who will have no trouble adapting to Postecoglou’s build-from-the-back strategy, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

Wolfsburg is demanding £34 million. However, a compromise may be possible, with both clubs meeting somewhere in the center.

“First, we need to speak with VFL.” “I think the Spurs would be a good fit for Micky,” Van de Ven’s agent, Fortes Rodriguez, told WAZ last month.

Van de Ven, a Dutch U21 international who resembles Jan Verthonghen with his raking passes and precise placement, was lured to Germany in 2021 by now-Liverpool director Jorg Schmadtke.

Liverpool were connected with a move as well, but Spurs are presently in first place. Van de Ven might become Tottenham’s third summer acquisition, following James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, and the soon-to-arrive Manor Solomon.

Tottenham, meanwhile, could want to sign a right-sided center-back, with Davinson Sanchez possibly on his way to Russia.
