Dimitar Berbatov, a former striker for Tottenham, Manchester United, and Bayer Leverkusen, believes that Xabi Alonso will be a perfect fit for Liverpool and that he should take over for Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds are searching for a new manager for the first time in almost ten years due to the resignation of Jurgen Klopp, and Alonso, a former player for Liverpool, is one of the front-runners. With 25 wins from 29 games thus far, the Spaniard’s Bayer Leverkusen team leads the Bundesliga by two points and is unbeaten overall.
Before completing a transfer to Tottenham in 2006, Berbatov played six years at Leverkusen. He believes Alonso will fit in the Premier League.
“Alonso is showing so far that he can handle everything,” the Bulgarian told Betfair. “Going to Liverpool, it’ll be even more challenging for him, but he’ll have the confidence he can do it based on what he’s doing right now.
”He’ll bring that style of play. It’ll fit Liverpool because there’s not much difference in the way they play to Leverkusen. They press high when they need to press, they control the ball, play from the back, playing brave passes.”
“I’m sure Alonso has begun considering the Liverpool position. Perhaps someone has already reached out to him? “Let us wait and observe,” stated Berbatov. “Let’s say he makes Leverkusen champions, he completes that unbelievable journey and then going to Liverpool will be the next step in his development.”
