Virgil Van Dijk Names Spotify Camp Nou As Second Favorite Stadium After Anfield

Gary Neville recently questioned Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk via The Overlap about his favourite stadium to play in outside of England.

The UEFA Champions League winner who has played in nearly every top European club’s home stadium responded with “Camp Nou.”

Playing at Barcelona’s Camp Nou is a special experience for any football player.

For starters, it can harbour the largest crowd of any stadium in Europe. However, more importantly, the atmosphere generated once it’s full is something very few venues in the world can boast of.

Van Dijk most recently represented Liverpool at Camp Nou in the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League semi-finals. The English team lost the first leg by score of three goals.
The highlight of the game was Lionel Messi’s spectacular freekick, and even van Dijk was powerless to stop the Argentine’s sorcery.
However, just few days later, the Blaugrana were shockingly eliminated at Anfield in 4-0 humiliation
While it may not be a pleasant memory for Barcelona, the fact remains that Jurgen Klopp’s side were completely outplayed in the first leg in Catalonia.
“A difficult question, but I will say Camp Nou,” said Van Dijk in response to Neville.
“Maybe because since I was young I watched several Barcelona games. The first match was with Celtic, we lost 6-1 and it was difficult, but the opportunity to play on the field was great and I really liked it.”
