Saka Injury Update Ahead Of Arsenal Clash With Newcastle

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has provided an update on Bukayo Saka following Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Port Vale in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

After missing time due to a hamstring injury, the 24-year-old winger made his first start for the Gunners since August.

Saka was given an hour to make an impression at Vale Park on Wednesday night after entering the game at halftime during the Premier League match against Manchester City last weekend.

The Arsenal captain for the night went down following a strong tackle just before leaving, raising suspicions that he sustained a knock.

After losing their last three games at St. James’ Park, Arteta might be tempted to take a chance when the north London team play Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon. In the race for the league title, Arsenal are already five points behind Liverpool.

About an hour into Arsenal’s match against Port Vale, Max Dowman took Saka’s place. Shortly before leaving the field, the England international, who has just made a comeback from a hamstring injury, was the victim of a strong tackle.

What Arteta Said About Saka

According to Football London, the Gunners boss said: “It was planned – 60 minutes was the maximum. We had four, almost five players already in the line-up that we had to get him out for different reasons, especially for load and coming from long periods out, so we planned for that.

“The good thing is that nobody got injured, so he has no muscular issues. So that’s a very positive thing again.”
