Robert Lewandowski Reveals Chat Details With Lionel Messi After Clash

In Wednesday’s FIFA World Cup 2022 Group C match between Poland and Argentina, Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski faced up against Lionel Messi.

Messi’s team won the match 2-0, which helped them advance to the knockout rounds.

However, Poland also advanced to the Round of 16 at the same time since Mexico’s 2-1 victory over Saudi Arabia was insufficient to displace them.

Lewandowski and Messi had a brief altercation during the game that got the attention of the crowd.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner was fouled by the Barcelona attacker, who then tried to apologize but was snubbed by the Argentina captain.

However, things seemed to be alright between the pair as they hugged each other after the match and spoke to each other.

What Did Messi And Lewandowski Say To Each Other?

While Messi refused to divulge the details of the conversation, Lewandowski has now shed light on what he said to the former Barcelona skipper during their chat after the match on Wednesday.

“We talked a bit and it was fun. I told Messi that he was playing more defensively than usual, but sometimes that’s what the team needs,” Lewandowski told Mundo Deportivo.

Talking about that incident on the pitch during the game, the 34-year-old hitman added: “That was very strange, yes.

“I was in the centre of the pitch defending, but I knew I had to help the team.”

Lewandowski’s Poland will now face reigning world champions France in the Round of 16, where he will come up against Barcelona teammates Ousmane Dembele and Jules Kounde.
