According to Mundo Deportivo, Al-Hilal wants €15 million to allow Cancelo join Barcelona this summer. Under Hansi Flick, the full-back has proven his worth, particularly in games where his energy and offensive drive have shone out.

The price is reasonable in today’s market, particularly for a player with Cancelo’s experience and adaptability. He can play on either wing, is creative in the last third, and understands the demands of playing for Barcelona.
At the same time, this is hardly a straightforward transaction. Barcelona must consider not only if Cancelo is worth the money, but also whether that money should be spent on a 31-year-old whose game has obvious quality but may suffer defensive errors.
Barcelona is not in a good financial situation, and this is a substantial investment on a player who is nearing the end of his peak years. As positive as his impact has been throughout his loan period thus far, no one knows how long it will last.
Given that Cancelo is no longer in Al Hilal’s plans, if the player wants to stay at Barcelona, the Catalan club will have an advantage in discussions and may drive a hard bargain to reduce the sum. It remains to be seen how things progress on this front in the coming months.
