According to a recent report by Defensa Central, Manchester City captain Bernardo offered himself to Real Madrid via his agent.
However, the publication says that despite the player’s talent and experience, club president Florentino Perez has decided not to pursue the possibility.
The Portuguese international is apparently intending to start a new chapter in his career at the end of the current season, when his contract with Manchester City expires.
Following the World Cup, he is thought to be interested in leaving Manchester City and trying himself in La Liga.
Contacts through Jorge Mendes.
To arrange the move, his agent, Jorge Mendes, contacted Real Madrid and Barcelona to gauge interest.
Barcelona is thought to be sympathetic to the concept, while Real Madrid’s viewpoint is very different.
Despite their initial contact, Perez is not convinced Silva fits into the club’s present project.

As a result, the decision is made on the basis of a number of factors rather than a single one.
Why did this happen?
One of the primary problems is age. Silva is reaching the age of 32, and Real Madrid has shifted its priority to signing younger players who can contribute for the long term.
Investing in a player at this stage of his career does not make sense right now.
Performance has also influenced the club’s decision-making. His recent performances, particularly against Real Madrid in the Champions League, have not left a strong enough impression to warrant a huge move.
Then there’s the money aspect. Silva earns a hefty income, and incorporating such wages into the current framework would be difficult.
While Real Madrid respects both Jorge Mendes and Bernardo Silva, they have denied the possibility to hire the Portuguese.
