Real Madrid President Clarifies Vinicius’ Contract Renewal: ‘No rush’

Just one day after calling for surprise early elections at Real Madrid, club president Florentino Perez made headlines with a shocking interview on La Sexta with writer Josep Pedrerol.

Perez addressed various important club issues following what had previously been termed as a hectic and unusual news conference.

Among the primary topics of discussion were the futures and performances of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr., the two worldwide stars projected to lead Real Madrid into a new era.

When asked explicitly about both players, Perez appeared to position Mbappe above Vinicius in the club’s present hierarchy, citing the Frenchman’s goal scoring statistics this season.

“Mbappe? He is Real Madrid’s finest player right now, and he has been given the Golden Boot.

“Vinicius? “I believe he’s one of the best players this club has,” he said without hesitation.

Praise for Mbappe

The Real Madrid president went on to praise Mbappe’s adaption to life in Madrid, while also indicating that the French superstar will need to improve in some areas in the future.

“Mbappe is the leading goal scorer. There’s something we need to work on, but I won’t get into it. How many goals did he score this year?

“His task is to score many goals. I believe he understands what Real Madrid is all about,” he remarked.

He then said, “I haven’t spoken to Mbappe since he’s been here; if I see him at training, I say hello,” he continued.

About Vinicius and his revival

The talk then went to Vinicius and the ongoing rumors over his contract extension.

While Perez sought to separate himself from the discussions, his words made it plain that the Brazilian is still highly regarded within the club.

“But I’m not the one who renews his contract. To me, Vinicius appears to be one of Madrid’s best players. He has won the past two Champions Leagues.

“There is no urgency to renew his contract; we have the entire season to discuss it.

“Do you believe I am in charge of everything? “That is for the sporting directorate to deal with,” he said.
