Franco Mastantuono will be traveling to the United States with River Plate and not Real Madrid to compete in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The young Argentine will remain with his present team for the rest of the competition before joining Los Blancos, despite having already secured his huge move to the Spanish giants.
According to Madrid Universal, River Plate reportedly made a concerted effort to hold onto the gifted playmaker for as long as possible. Keeping him till the end of the year was their goal, particularly for the Copa Libertadores.
After the competition, Real Madrid are said to be going to pay his €45 million release clause and move him to Spain.

Nevertheless, the close ties between the two teams made a short-term compromise possible, allowing the 17-year-old to play for his hometown team in one final big tournament.
Mastantuono has already been included in the 34-player roster that River Plate coach Marcelo Gallardo has selected to travel to the United States for the competition.
Although Mastantuono will be vital to River in the near future, it is still clear that he will join Madrid in time to get ready for the 2025–2026 campaign.
According to Spanish sources, Xabi Alonso believes the youngster can bring uniqueness and excellence to the midfield.
Mastantuono will sign a deal with a stunning €1 billion release clause, in keeping with Real Madrid’s current practice to safeguard their young players.
