PSG Goalkeeper Involved In Horse Riding Accident

PSG goalkeeper, Sergio Rico was involved in a horse riding accident and is currently in intensive care.

The incident occurs less than 24 hours after Paris Saint-Germain were crowned the Ligue 1 champions after their draw against Racing Strasbourg.

The 29-year-old took a flight to Spain after PSG won the Ligue 1 championship on Saturday. And today, he was rushed to the hospital after colliding with another horse in Huelva’s El Rocio district.

An official club statement stated that Rico had been taken to the hospital and in a “serious condition”. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at Seville’s Virgen del Rocio hospital.

According to local reports, Rico was struck in the head during the incident.

During his career, the goalie has spent time with Fulham and Sevilla. On Sunday, Sevilla tweeted, “Lots of strength and a speedy recovery.”

On Saturday, Rico sat on the bench as PSG won a record-breaking 11th Ligue 1 title at Racing Strasbourg, Lionel Messi scored in a drab 1-1 tie.

PSG now have 85 points. Four more than RC Lens, who finished second and earned a spot in the Champions League for the upcoming season – a first for the Sang et Or in 21 years – with a 3-0 thrashing of AC Ajaccio at a blistering Bollaert-Delelis stadium.
