Premier League Club Blame Jersey For Poor Performance

Aston Villa players have ultimately blamed their poor performances on the pitch on the jersey they wear this season.

The Gastore shirt is said to be heavy which soaks so much sweat and makes them uncomfortable which is subsequently affecting their performances as a team.

A jersey has only ever been used to redirect from a loss once before. And that was back in the 1990s when Manchester United traveled to Southampton wearing their famed grey away outfit. Which they swapped at halftime and into a blue kit, incurring a hefty fine, as reported by Sky Sports.

According to The Telegraph as cited by Caught Offside, Villa players have voiced their grievances with head coach Unai Emery and the board who are in talks with the manufacturers about why the shirts get heavy and unsettling during games.

From the moment a player exerts any exertion and sweats, the shirts do indeed immediately take on a “wet look”. With it being remarked that the problem is particularly noticeable on the home jerseys.

“The players are having to play in soaking wet t-shirts and it is a problem that needs to be solved,” a source close to one player is reported as saying.

“It cannot go on all season. The players look like they’ve jumped in a swimming pool after about 10 minutes.”

In addition, the players have also reportedly claimed that the problem negatively impacts their performances. The club are now purportedly working on a resolution with Castore.

The manufacturer is reluctant to lose Villa as a customer after having already lost Newcastle United.
