Pochettino Lauds ‘Priceless’ Chelsea Star Following Crystal Palace Win

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino has lavished praise on Conor Gallagher following his impressive display in the Blues 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night.

Jefferson Lerma’s incredible goal in the first half put Chelsea behind 1-0 at the half. But Gallagher’s goals just a minute into the second half and the game-winning goal in the 91st minute broke Palace’s resolve.

Chelsea finished the game at Selhurst Park with three points after a third goal from Enzo Fernández in the 94th minute of play.

In the first, Gallagher finished well after a cross from Malo Gusto. And in the second, he skillfully slotted home from the edge of the box to give Chelsea the victory.

What Did Pochettino Say About Gallagher?

“I think he’s a player with a great commitment to the team, always trying to compensate every single situation,” Pochettino said of Gallagher as echoed by ESPN.

“It’s priceless to have a player like him. I’m so happy for him as it’s a victory we needed.”

During the January transfer window, Gallagher was linked to a move away from Chelsea, but he chose to stay.

The 24-year-old’s long-term future is unclear because his contract expires at the end of next season. But Pochettino claims that prior to last month, Gallagher had no intention of leaving the club.

“Always he decided, what he said to me was that he wanted to stay at Chelsea,” Pochettino said. “But it’s about him and the club.

“I am not [worried about] these types of things, he has another year on his contract. But that’s a matter for him and the club.”

After Chelsea’s trip to Manchester City on Sunday, they will play Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on February 25.
