Genoa would like to retain the defender until the end of this season but the report states they will ‘hardly be able to resist’ big offers for him next month. There’s no mention of any figures or range, which would be difficult for the Italian club to turn down.
The Romania international has admirers in Italy, including AC Milan, but TMW say the fee requested by the Serie A side could lead him to the Premier League, where ‘Newcastle like him a lot’.
It remains to be seen whether Eddie Howe’s side will make an offer in the winter market, which could be difficult for Genoa to reject.
