Manchester United Hold Talks Over Signing Strikers Rasmus Hojlund And Randal Kolo Muani

Manchester United are apparently in talks with Atalanta and Frankfurt about signing Rasmus Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani.

Erik ten Hag’s first objective this summer is to sign a new striker, since neither Anthony Martial nor Wout Weghorst are judged good enough or fit enough to lead the attack next season.

The two have combined for 11 goals in 59 appearances, and a substantial improvement is required ahead of the Red Devils’ return to the Champions League.

The No.1 aim is Harry Kane, but there are numerous huge roadblocks in the way of that trade, including the England captain’s £100 million valuation and Tottenham’s reluctance to sell to a PremierLeague competitor.

As a result, United are investigating a number of options, with The Athletic reporting that Football Director John Murtough has spoken with highly regarded duo Hojlund and Kolo Muani about their availability.

Hojlund had a solid debut season at Atalanta, scoring eight goals and assisting four times in 31 Serie A games while also scoring five times for Denmark during the last international break.

Kolo Muani, who has 23 goals and 17 assists in 43 appearances for Frankfurt, is the stronger option statistically, and the 24-year-old also scored for France en way to the World Cup final last December.

However, the former is more likely to move to Old Trafford given that the latter’s price tag is expected to be in the region of €80m (£68.7m), which would stretch United’s finances.

Moreover, Ten Hag hopes to buy both an experienced and a young and upcoming striker and at just 20-years-old Hojlund fits that bill perfectly and could be signed alongside Kane.
