Man United ready to offer Kane £150,000 a week as Tottenham talks stall

Manchester United have made it clear that they would be at the front of the queue to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham and would pay the striker more than £150,000 a week, according to Sqauwka news.

Tottenham sources say the club have no intention of selling Kane despite failing to make a breakthrough in contract talks with the England international.

Kane is also said to be in “no rush” to extend his current deal, which is worth £60,000 a week – including a £35,000 a week basic salary – and expires in 2020. Spurs were confident of reaching an agreement worth £100,000-a-week but negotiations are currently on hold.

Kane is still expected to commit to Tottenham, with talks set to resume in the New Year, but a number of clubs are monitoring his situation including Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

United are believed to have made enquiries for the 23-year-old in the last two summer transfer windows and were prepared to pay more than £50 million to bring him to Old Trafford.

United have let it be known that Kane would become one of their prime targets if Tottenham were prepared to listen to offers for the academy graduate.

Kane is seen as a long-term option to replace ageing forwards Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with Jose Mourinho known to be a huge fan of Kane for his ability to lead the line and his eye for goal.

There is also a feeling that Kane could become an important marketing asset as one of the most recognisable players in English football.

Kane signed his most recent Spurs contract in February last year and has scored 67 goals for the club, including 25 Premier League strikes last season to win the Golden Boot.

Tottenham remain relaxed about Kane’s future and optimistic he will join the likes of Eriksen, Dele Alli, Danny Rose, Eric Dier and Kyle Walker all signing new deals since the start of the season.
