Manchester United have reportedly rejected an offer from AS Roma for Joshua Zirkzee.
United have stated that they will only contemplate a permanent deal, despite the Italian club’s desire to recruit the Netherlands international on loan in January with the option to buy at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has only appeared in eight games this season across all competitions due to his struggles to get regular playing time under Rúben Amorim.
The attacker has fallen behind players that joined the team during the summer transfer window, such as Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.

Man United Reject AS Roma’s offer For Zirkzee
According to Caught Offside, Roma’s offer was set up as a loan-to-buy arrangement, whereby the club would only be obligated to make a permanent transfer if they qualified for the Champions League.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s Serie A team sees Zirkzee as the perfect player to improve their offense.
The Dutch attacker was a successful player for Bologna in the Italian league in the past.
However, the offer’s conditional nature did not impress United.
According to reports, club management told Roma that they would only consider offers that ensured a long-term transfer rather than one that was contingent on future sporting results.
The club are believed to be looking to add a new midfield player, thus Zirkzee’s sale would assist cover planned January expenditures.
After an outstanding season at Bologna, where he scored 12 goals in Serie A and received his first senior call-up for the Netherlands, Zirkzee joined Man United last year with great expectations.
It has been challenging to adjust to the Premier League, though. His impact has been constrained by the team’s tactical shortcomings under Amorim and his inconsistent playing time.
